How I came to the Doppler Effect
I first met Rick in Pittsburgh at his house (complete with Haunted Chamber in the garage). I met Francis one year, and Arthur the next at the Phoenix Gathering. A year or so later, Francis and I co-created Cerebral Sorcery. Rick remained a close friend as well as an amazing brain to pick, before, in 2005, we spent a week together to develop some new material. Working with Rick occurred with such ease and fluidity, that I knew we would create again. I had great respect for the small body of work I had seen from Arthur, but it was not until we got together to brainstorm, that I saw how great a thinker he really was.
Arthur and I began to imagine a show together. Soon, I found myself discussing Arthur and my dream with both Francis and Rick. Soon, my co-creation with Arthur grew into a circle of four. Meeting with Arthur at a coffee shop turned into late night conference calls that extended for hours and stretched nearly 800 miles. The Doppler Effect was born.
This collaboration that has come together is an opportunity to respect, honor and create with 3 fellow magicians who believe in the potential for the art of magic. Each of us seeks our own path within this magical world. No matter how different this journey or destination may be individually, we all strive, together, to explore new magical boundaries.
As we all move in our separate directions, we choose, at times, to walk alongside one another; discussing, exploring, and creating. At these moments, we walk the same path. Moving, together, towards the past, present and future.
